Over 120,000 spectators celebrate Bucharest Days with diverse cultural events
During the weekend of September 20–21, ARCUB – the Cultural Center of Bucharest Municipality – organized some of the most anticipated events for Bucharest Days, attracting over 120,000 attendees. Calea Victoriei and Poiana cu Aluni Street became pedestrian zones hosting more than 80 street events, including theater performances, concerts, exhibitions, and workshops for all ages.
One highlight was the "Primăria Deschisă" event, when the City Hall Palace opened its doors for guided tours, themed exhibitions, historical film screenings, and community meals, showcasing the heritage of one of Bucharest's most beautiful interwar buildings. Outdoor concerts on Elie Radu Street enriched the atmosphere.
Another remarkable moment was the "Sirene pe Dâmbovița" show, Romania’s first water-based theatrical production, presented near the National Opera Bucharest. This innovative performance combined live music, theater, video mapping, and choreography on the city's river, illustrating ARCUB’s commitment to creative cultural projects, newsbucuresti.ro notează.
Various neighborhood events also brought art closer to the public, including the Dâmbovița Delivery project at the Opera, the Dorobanți StreetArt Fest with urban art exhibitions and concerts, and Urban Explorers’ night sessions with guided tours and video projections in Mântuleasa district. The celebrations concluded with a piano recital at Hanul Gabroveni, marking the end of Romania’s first exhibition dedicated to stained glass art.
